    We've combined the best parts of the District VIII awards with the Circle of Excellence Awards.

    When you enter the Circle of Excellence Awards, your entries also will be considered for Best of District VIII recognition—at no extra cost. We've also updated all of the categories and judging criteria and added several categories that will be judged based on staff size.

    Individual Achievement Awards

    The Individual Achievement Awards, formerly known as the Professional Awards, recognize the best accomplishments of advancement professionals and education leaders on behalf of their institutions. These accomplishments exemplify standards by which we compare our work, and educate and inspire ourselves to greater success.

    Distinguished Service Award

    The Distinguished Service Award honors individuals for outstanding service to the district. The service may come in any number of ways, including conference leadership and/or speaker; exceptional volunteer role, such as a lengthy record of designing/producing materials for conferences; and distinguished service in a volunteer leadership role).

    Leadership Award

    The Leadership Award recognizes a CASE VIII member institution president or head, chancellor, educational system head, or CEO for outstanding efforts to promote the understanding and support of education.

    Rising Star Awards

    Rising Star Awards honor individuals with 3 to 5 years of experience in the advancement professions of alumni relations, communications and marketing, advancement services, and philanthropy, recognizing the accomplishments of those whose early success bodes well for future leadership and achievement.

    Only one award in each of the four categories will be presented:

    1. Alumni Relations
    2. Communications and Marketing
    3. Advancement Services
    4. Philanthropy

      Opportunity and Inclusion Scholarships

      Scholarships will be available to attend the 2024 CASE District VIII Annual Conference. 

      District VIII values efforts that foster and promote diversity in the advancement profession. The Opportunity and Inclusion (O&I) Scholars Program supports professionals from under-represented populations in our field, particularly those who have less than four years of experience.

      In addition to receiving complimentary conference registration, each scholarship recipient will receive a stipend to offset travel and lodging expenses.  

      Preference for scholarships will be given to people who meet any of these criteria: 

      • Never attended a CASE conference. 
      • From an under-represented population. 
      • New to educational advancement. 
      • Student who is planning a career in educational advancement. 

      Application Instructions

      The applicant must be on staff at a CASE member institution, educational affiliate, or educational partner.

      All application materials are submitted online. Applicants will be asked to answer these questions:

      • Approximately how many full-time employees do you have working in educational advancement at your institution?
      • How long have you been in your current position?
      • How long have you worked in educational advancement?
      • Describe your advancement office (size, scope of work), and your role within the office. (500 word limit)
      • How did you come to work in educational advancement? (500 word limit)
      • Why do you do the work you do? (500 word limit)?
      • What do you think distinguishes you from others who may apply for this scholarship? (500 word limit) 
      • What professional or institutional needs would you hope to meet by attending a CASE conference? (500 word limit)

      Applicants also will be asked to upload:

      • Letter of Support
      • Headshot (Optional)
