Roundtable: Job Sharing, If Two Heads Are Better Than One, How Can the Sector Lead the Way in Flexible Working to Support Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Talent Retention and Personal and Organisational Growth?
How can job sharing unlock the staff recruitment, retention, and equality challenges in your organisation? The demand for flexible and part time working continues to increase, yet only 0.3% of workers job share.
This session will draw on our lived experience of a six-year job-sharing journey, and that of collaborative learning and reflection undertaken across our institution, whilst drawing on the perspectives and insights of participants, to create and share best practice and practical tools to demystify and support effective job sharing.
Advancement could be a beacon of flexible working opportunities if we can collectively create a forum for collective action and share our learning across the sector.

HIGH-TECH or HIGH-TOUCH? Getting the Balance Right for your Mentoring Programme
Mentoring is happening everywhere. It is a proven initiative that delivers results across employability and volunteering engagement. The challenge is that such programmes are often labour intensive and typically only benefit a tiny fraction of your community. The very best programmes are run by dedicated professionals, carefully hand-picking matches and personally stewarding relationships. Attempts to scale-up often compromise the special human ingredient that makes these programmes succeed. Join Daniel as he comprehensively sets out the various models you have for a mentoring programme and how to choose the right path for your institution. Daniel will also share the results of Aluminati’s large-scale research paper on the effect of mentoring on employability and introduce an innovative new 'best of both' solution developed by Aluminati that combines high-tech AND high-touch
Speakers: Daniel Watts, Managing Director, Aluminati Network Group

Investment in Advancement – Presenting a winning case
We know that there’s a direct correlation between fundraising investment and results. The recent CASE Ross survey reported that the clusters between ‘Fragile’ to ‘Moderate’ seem to be flatlining on income and the average number of fundraising staff has gone down by 2%. However, investment in ‘Elite’ and ‘Established’ institutions staffing has increased. Whether you are making the case for resources to build and sustain a development programme at the early stages or to grow and transform your institution through a major campaign, C&C will share insights from their experience with clients across the globe and themes drawn from over 20 Cairney Conversations with Vice-Chancellors and Chief Development professionals on how they have made the case. You will also hear a live case study on how one organisation has approached investment successfully. Bring your ideas, case studies and experience for an interactive session resulting in the top 3-5 key elements to make the strongest case for investment and the best approach to achieve success.
Speakers: Karen Cairney, CEO and Founder, Cairney and Company, Colin McCallum, Cairney Partner, Cairney and Company, Matt Ferguson, Director of Development, University of Warwick

2023: The Future Student Odyssey
A winning content strategy is one which gives your audience exactly what they’re looking for when they are looking for it - we all know this, it’s not a secret. But how do you know if you’ve got one? Your audience are prospective students. Again, not a secret. But it’s the ‘when’ part of this that becomes a bit more interesting. Can you genuinely say that you know when your audience is looking for what they need? Just like Stanley Kubrick did with his groundbreaking film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, let us take you on a journey to give you an unprecedented exploration into when students are engaging with online content and a futuristic, accurate detailing of what they are looking at in particular. We will lift the lid on how students are engaging online and how this insight can be used to improve the performance of university websites, properly and effectively measure the performance of your content, create personalised content journeys and drive an increase in conversions. Takeaways from the session: (1) Detailing the power of your website content and how to use it differently at every single stage of the student recruitment process through understanding user behaviour. (2) Using personalised content to create and continue a data-informed dialogue, away from your website and into further comms. (3) Personalisation in action - practical tips to how you can use engagement data to show applicants that you truly get them and yours is a university to which they can belong.

An interview with Alison Traub, Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Cambridge, as she shares with us her own observations about the recently completed ‘Dear World... Yours, Cambridge’ campaign.
The campaign for the University and Colleges of Cambridge, the largest in Cambridge’s history, has recently closed after surpassing its target, raising more than £2.2bn. Over 80,000 alumni donated to the University and Colleges throughout the campaign, and committed thousands of volunteer hours to Cambridge. More than 400 academic-related posts received philanthropic support in subjects ranging from crop science to climate law, and Cambridge's world-leading research in areas like the early detection of cancer, public policy and rethinking the measures of economic progress, and understanding the causes of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinsons have all been advanced as a result. During the campaign, Cambridge secured the largest single gift ever given to a UK organisation by a UK national - the extraordinary £100 million gift from the Claudia and David Harding Foundation. Hear from Alison as she discusses with John Glier, CEO of GG+A, some of the key highlights, challenges, and learnings from leading such a pivotal campaign.
Speakers: John Glier, Chief Executive Officer, Grenzebach, Glier and Associates, Alison Traub, Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations, University of Cambridge
