    How to Participate

When the survey is open for data collection, the first step in the process is completing the survey contact form (not currently open). We will use this information to provide you access to the survey. Once the contact form is completed, a member of the CASE research team will reach out to with the survey link and instructions for completing the survey. Please contact [email protected] if you have any issues.

Once you have a your survey link and documents you can begin completing the survey.

We have created two documents to assist with survey completion. The first is a Guidance Document that contains definitions, counting standards, examples, and question-by-question guidance. The second document is a Survey Data Collection Form for use in assembling and checking data prior to entering it in the online survey.  The excel sheet performs some automatic quality checks on your data.

It is possible to start the survey, save responses, and resume the survey later but be sure to use the same survey link on the same computer and browser.  Saving data in the excel validation form also provides a backup should you have issues saving data or have a connectivity issue.

Before submitting responses, we ask that your institution’s senior most Advancement Professional/Chief Advancement Officer reviews and signs off on reported data. Participants are also asked to sign a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA).  The DSA is in place to ensure that others do not share results outside of their institution and guarantees that results are only used for benchmarking purposes.

CASE will review all data query participants to correct potential errors before reporting findings and making data available to participants in the survey report, and in individualized reports.

All survey participants will receive a complimentary summary benchmarking report presenting data on 5 key variables and a PDF report of aggregate findings.  Survey participants can also order a strategic benchmarking report presenting data for their institution and a group of 5-10 peers from within the survey population. The highly inter-active HTML file presents data on 15 variables and enables users to change chart views, review underlying chart data, and download charts for use in presentations. Strategic benchmarking reports include a 30-minute call to preview data and a one hour "Review Call" in which an which a CASE Insights team member walks the client and their team through the full report, identifying strategic questions and insights for discussion.  If you are interested in learning more about strategic benchmarking reports please email [email protected].
