Every year, CASE awards Virginia Carter Smith Scholarships to individuals who demonstrate considerable promise and potential as educational advancement professionals. In 2025, CASE will award 25 scholarships that can be used for in-person conferences and online trainings.
About Virginia Carter Smith
This award is named for a legendary CASE employee, Virginia "Ginny" Carter Smith, who served CASE and its members with unwavering passion and dedication from 1975 until retiring in 1991. Among her many roles, Smith oversaw books, publications, communications, conferences, the Annual Assembly, the Reference Center, membership, district and board relations, and the committee to advance minorities and women. She also served as acting president twice and was founder and editor of Currents magazine. Smith passed away in 1995.
