
District Cabinet Charter
Adopted by the CASE Board of Trustees, July 2022
Purpose
The District Cabinets are volunteer bodies who help to advance the profession locally and bring CASE closer to the membership through direct engagement and outreach. They partner with CASE staff to build relationships and engage with local colleagues to sustain, grow, and steward the membership. They support the delivery of strategy to advance CASE’s goals in support of the membership and aid in the development and delivery of services relevant to their local audience.
Responsibilities
- Work with staff to support member retention, acquisition, and stewardship through direct engagement and relationship building.
- Encourage newcomers to CASE and the profession to become more engaged through direct interaction and specific opportunities including mentoring and convenings.
- Promote CASE with colleagues and members within their geographic area.
- Assist in the development of content for local educational offerings, with a particular focus on member engagement and the CASE Career Journey Framework, as well as provide volunteer support and district visibility at conferences taking place within the local geographic area.
- Identify and recommend advancement professionals to serve as CASE volunteers and, in particular, future Cabinet members and program volunteers, with a specific focus on CASE’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB).
- Work with staff to implement DEIB activities within the region.
- Provide personal philanthropic support to CASE as individual circumstances permit.
Members
The District Cabinets consist of not less than 15 and no more than 35 voting members, the certain number to be determined by the Cabinet in consultation with CASE staff. Cabinet officers include the Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Cabinets may choose to expand their officer roles as appropriate to the District.
Terms
District Cabinet members and officers serve terms of two years. Cabinet members may not serve more than two consecutive terms and officers may not serve for more than one term.
Election
The District Cabinet Leadership Committee, working alongside CASE staff, develops a preferred profile for Cabinet members and officers and invites members to submit nominations for open positions. District Cabinet members are elected by the membership within the district.
Meetings
The District Cabinets meet three times a year, either in person or virtually, and at other times as may be deemed necessary or appropriate. A majority of the members present at a meeting constitutes a quorum. The Chairs of the District Cabinets convene twice a year.
Staffing
The District Cabinets are staffed by the regional Executive Director or their staff nominee.
