    About DASL

DASL is an online tool from CASE and the National Association of Independent Schools (and over 40 other school associations)—a powerful, one-stop shop for U.S. independent school data collection. In it, school leaders can find actionable data on all aspects of their school operations, including admission, enrollment, salaries, and more.

Since April 2022, CASE and NAIS have been partners on DASL, drawing in CASE’s Global Reporting Standards to the tool to give schools access to consistent advancement data across the sector. For schools, this means:

    • Access to comprehensive, standardized data. School leaders can use DASL to more comprehensively benchmark against their global peers and have a complete snapshot of their schools’ financial and engagement health.
    • More data, less time and effort. Now, through the enhanced DASL, you can enter advancement and operations data in just one place. You’ll be able to access your DASL data through CASE’s AMAtlas and Data Miner tools, where you can pull reports.
    • Deeper insights. CASE will release analysis and insights to help schools navigate and use data.
    • Assurance that the data adhere to the highest industry standards in terms of transparency, ethics, and consistent reporting.

    DASL Schedule

    • Data entry opens: August 2022
    • Data entry closes: Fall 2022
    • Data released: Early 2023

    CASE Member Access

CASE members get access to the full suite of DASL resources, including being able to see data in CASE’s AMAtlas and Data Miner.

Your data entry process will be the same! The only thing that will change are the questions being asked within the advancement section of the overall survey.

The questions in DASL around advancement will now align with the Global Reporting Standards, and the Core Philanthropy Metrics survey. CASE is making a copy of Standards available to each institution entering data into DASL, free of charge. You can access Standards and your Guidance Document before data collection begins.

Access your data in DASL and pull reports directly through the tool. CASE members can also access data through Data Miner.

Data collection opens in August and closes in the fall. Analysis is released the following winter.

Now, schools do not need to complete the VSE. Instead, you should use DASL. The dataset for advancement within DASL contains aspects of the VSE and Core Philanthropy Metrics.
