The CASE Insights on Philanthropy (Canada) in partnership with CCAE is the authoritative source of data on giving to Canadian colleges, institutes, and universities. The survey collects data on funds received and committed, donor populations and gift bands, charitable purposes, and staffing.
The survey:
- Provides an industry standard model for measuring and reporting fundraising outcomes.
- Provides participants with standardized data to benchmark year-over-year fundraising progress, make reliable apples-to-apples comparisons with peer institutions, and inform fundraising strategy.
- Helps institutional leaders set goals, assess performance, build capacity, and make informed, strategic decisions regarding investments in advancement.
- Raises the profile of higher education advancement in Canada and increase public understanding of the role of philanthropy in supporting Canadian students and institutions.
- Provides data to help measure the impact of public policy and inform advocacy initiatives supporting educational advancement in Canada and globally.

How to Participate

The survey is hosted on the CASE Insights Surveys website. A survey account, which is separate from a CASE member account, is required. Email the CASE Insights team to request a survey account or to change an existing survey contact. Include your institution’s name, city, and state, and your name, email address, and phone number. If you already have an account but have forgotten your password, there is a password reset link on the CASE Insights Surveys login page.
Annual Survey Schedule
Mid-June: The CASE Insights on Philanthropy (Canada) survey opens for data input. Participants may also request to complete prior-year surveys in which they did not participate.
September 30: Survey deadline for all institutions.
To request a deadline extension, email the Insights team. Include the institution's name, city, and state, your name and contact information, and the requested deadline extension date.
March-April: Official release of key findings from the survey.
