CASE uses its career journey framework to define the target audience for its programmes. You can learn more about this programme's relevant competency levels below.

The Europe Institute is aimed at mid-career professionals but would also benefit colleagues who have gained experience in another profession and are fairly new to education/advancement, and/or have recently moved across to a fundraising/alumni relations/marketing/communications role in education.  The programme is especially relevant to professionals working in small teams who hold wide-ranging responsibilities.

Level 2 – Early career/Emerging 

By attending this Institute, professionals at this level will:

  • Develop competency in their primary discipline
  • Understand the benefits and resources of integrated educational advancement (data analytics, marketing and communication, and donor stewardship)
  • Knowledge of their work style and preferences, and learn how to effectively work with other team members and colleagues
  • Understand effective management and leadership skills and how they apply to building effective organisations
  • Expand relationships with professional colleagues across the various advancement disciplines and institutions

 

Level 3 – Mid-career/Practicing/Maturing

By attending this Institute, professionals at this level will:

  • Deepen expertise in their primary discipline
  • Establish fluency across educational advancement disciplines
  • Begin managing the work of others in their primary discipline
  • Understand how project decisions affect others across advancement
  • Develop leadership skills to effectively work with others
  • Continue to expand relationships with professional colleagues across advancement, the institution, and other institutions

 

Level 4 – Mid-Career/Experienced/Mastering

By attending this Institute, professionals at this level will:

  • Expertise is established in their primary discipline
  • Ability to teach and mentor early career professionals in their primary discipline
  • Deep knowledge across other educational advancement disciplines
  • Utilise data and analytics to inform decision-making
  • Begin to develop an understanding of broader industry issues and trends
  • Continue to refine management skills and abilities
  • Understanding how unit decisions affect others across advancement
  • Hone and strengthen leadership skills to motivate staff and determine the direction of the unit
  • Continue to expand relationships with professional colleagues across advancement, the institution, and other institutions

  • Emotional Intelligence: Recognising emotions and understanding how they impact you and others to guide thinking and behaviour.
  • Industry Sector expertise: Gain the knowledge and skills requisite to specific domains of practice within the profession as well as an understanding that different regions and different types of institutions may combine or modify these categorisations as they apply to their specific context.
  • Relationship building: Effectively utilising interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong professional relationships between the organisation and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Global and Cultural Competence: Working effectively with and for people from different geographies and cultural perspectives.
  • Business and Financial Acumen: Understands the business situation and financial factors and takes responsibility for the best course of action.
  • Integrity and Professionalism: Excellence in conduct representing oneself, one’s institution, and the profession.
  • Leadership: Begin to develop skills in effectively managing self, others and resources to achieve organisational impact. The ability to define what the future should look like, align people with that vision, and influence others through authenticity and inspiration to make the vision happen despite obstacles.
