Why your Institutional Mission and Strategy matter

The CASE Europe Institute Opening Plenary will be a conversation with CASE President and CEO Sue Cunningham and Professor Dr Nils Stieglitz, President and Managing Director of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. These leaders will focus their conversation on how leaders implement their vision and mission through strategy and practice. This session will include time for Q&A. Learn how vision and mission serve as anchors for the key work that is done at an institution, and how good practice can help keep focus when there are competing demands. Professor Steiglitz will make recommendations on how to do this successfully as well as speaking about the challenges faced. The conversation will include a discussion of how advancement can help drive and support institutional strategy.

Leading from behind- it takes a village

Hear case studies from the faculty that will prove a well-known but often ignored wisdom: it takes a village to raise a child or, in the Advancement context, to bring Advancement projects to fruition. With nods to challenges of fundraising, alumni relations and marcomms professionals, we will look at determinants of success in each of the case studies and discuss the value of a network of internal and external relationships to support leadership without formal reporting lines. More often than not, Advancement professionals will have to navigate challenges and manage a number of relationships to instigate change and ensure success.
Speakers: Carsten Vogel, Mehrnoosh Rayner, Head of Alumni Relations, European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Dee Reid, Director of External Relations, Leeds Beckett University, Caroline Mattingley-Scott, Head of Fundraising, University of Basel
