From the Nominator

The #TeamUofG "Rock Your Socks" onboarding campaign showcased the University of Glasgow’s genuinely friendly and inclusive community, to ensure our new students felt part of our UofG family before they even arrived on campus. We brought our staff, alumni, and current students together to provide a seamless, consistent welcome to our incoming students, to show how our community will support them along every "step" of their student journey, and stop them from getting "cold feet" about joining us. We wanted to build on the success of our previous onboarding campaigns in 2017 and 2018, where we used #TeamUofG transfer tattoos to welcome our new students to Glasgow. The feedback from our student focus groups and our student panel on Facebook was they loved receiving a fun welcome gift, but they wanted something more practical that they could re-use. The item also needed to be both flat and lightweight for mailing, and highly visual and shareable, so we decided #TeamUofG socks would be the perfect fit. Socks also offered a warm, comforting welcome to our international students coming from warmer climates who often aren’t prepared for the less-welcoming Scottish weather.

From the Judges

This is fun and welcome swag that reaches students in a way that pens and folders don’t. The colors are a bright and colorful version of UofG’s branding, and the photos that students tagged the university in are so cute.
