    From the Nominator

James Peebles is a University of Manitoba alumnus who is now the Albert Einstein Professor Emeritus of Science at Princeton University. He is largely credited for developing the Big Bang Theory and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics on Oct. 8, 2019. With this announcement, Peebles became the first ever UM graduate to win a Nobel Prize. Based on the significance of this achievement and the fact that he got his start at the University of Manitoba, we sought to congratulate Peebles for his accomplishment and share his incredible story with the UM community of students, faculty, staff and alumni.

    From the Judges

This is a great entry with purpose and real world outcomes. The judges were impressed by the research methodology and thinking around outcomes. This is clearly a great program with positive social impact.
