    From the Nominator

Adelphi Insider is an e-newsletter that is emailed twice a week to faculty and staff, and to students who are currently enrolled at Adelphi University and their parents. It was created in 2016 to address two problems facing Adelphi. First, as a former local commuter school, the university suffers from a perception that it lacks a vibrant campus life. To the contrary, the university and campus organizations now offer dozens of events each weekday and weekend. Adelphi Insider was created to publicize the lectures, performances, sporting events, exhibitions, volunteer opportunities, and social events taking place on campus. Second, Adelphi previously had no centralized way to draw attention to news from across the university. Insider provides that, publishing articles and interviews about student successes, diversity, faculty profiles, new courses and other topics of interest.

    From the Judges

What impressed us most about this entry was that they had a very specific goal (as opposed to many entries wanting simply to “increase engagement”): they wanted to change the perception of Adelphi and increase on-campus involvement. They had huge success doing that with limited internal resources. We loved how the sections were clearly and cleanly grouped, so you could scroll immediately down to Athletics or Health, for example, if you're interested in only those areas and wanted to skip the rest. We also liked the idea of splitting news and events into two different e-blasts so readers are not overwhelmed. This newsletter gives the impression of a vibrant community where you want to spend time... and obviously, the target audience agrees!
