CASE Distinguished Service Award
The CASE Distinguished Service Award celebrates inspirational advancement professionals whose accomplishments and service to CASE have made a significant and lasting impact on institutional advancement. The award acknowledges individuals whose embodiment of the spirit of CASE, particularly leadership and generosity in sharing knowledge with the community of practice, have earned the respect and admiration of fellow colleagues.
CASE celebrates the leadership, innovation, and impact of professionals from different lived experiences. As in all its initiatives, CASE values inclusivity, and therefore, the Individual Achievement Awards actively seek the broadest possible set of nominations from institutions and individuals across the globe.
To be considered for this award, nominees must meet the following qualifications:
- From a CASE member institution or Educational Partner or retired from a CASE member institution.
- Made significant contributions to CASE through volunteer service.
- Current members of the CASE Regional Councils are not eligible for nomination.
- Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Carlos Garcia
Dr. Garcia is the chief of staff and director of institutional relations at CETYS University, an internationally accredited university system in northwestern Mexico. Dr. Garcia has been involved in external relations for more than 20 years, having served as system director for advancement, campus president at CETYS Ensenada (2004-2009) and CETYS International Campus (2011-2016), and currently as a system head of institutional relations, where he oversees alumni relations, communications, and supports board development efforts.
Dr. García has served as secretary to the board of CETYS for more than 10 years and staffed the trusteeship committee during that period. Dr. García has repeatedly served as a liaison with external consultants in matters about governance and was the primary point of contact for a multi-year restructuring process of IENAC Board, for which the institution was recognized with the prestigious John W. Nason Award for Board Leadership, thus becoming the first institution outside of the US to receive said award.
Dr. García has served as a resource and consultant for other universities seeking to enhance governance. In addition to formal preparation in institutional advancement that includes The Fundraising School at Indiana-Purdue and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, years of experience in business promoting organizational development inform Dr. García’s understanding of the mindset of trustees and volunteers from the private sector.
Dr. García earned his EdD from City University in Seattle, WA, and an MBA from CETYS University. He is active in several higher education organizations including the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, and the American Council on Education. He has been a board member of COPARMEX (Mexico’s leading business organization), the Economic Development Corporation, the Red Cross, Caracol Science Museum, Rotary International (D-4100), among others.
CASE Leadership Award
The CASE Leadership Award celebrates CASE member institutional chief executive officers, system heads, and trustees for outstanding efforts in promoting and supporting education and institutional advancement.

As in all its initiatives, CASE values inclusivity, and therefore, the Individual Achievement Awards actively seek the broadest possible set of nominations from institutions and individuals across the globe.
To be considered for this award, nominees must meet the following requirements:
- Institutional CEO, system head, or trustee (current or retired) for a CASE member institution.
- Institutionally Related Foundations or self-governed alumni association CEOs and trustees are not eligible for nomination.
- Current members of the CASE Regional Councils are not eligible for nomination.
- Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Dr. José Antonio Lozano Díez
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) is pleased to announce that Dr. José Antonio Lozano Díez has been named the recipient of the 2025 CASE Latin America Leadership Award.
Dr. Lozano has played a pivotal role in strengthening institutional advancement in Latin America. As General Rector and now as President of the UP-IPADE Governing Board, he has promoted a culture of philanthropy and engagement, bringing Universidad Panamericana into the CASE community and encouraging senior leadership to participate in CASE programs and initiatives.
Under his leadership, Universidad Panamericana launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to support the development of Ciudad Panamericana, a new campus in Mexico City spanning 40 hectares. The project includes state-of-the-art academic buildings, a library, athletic facilities, university residences, and a hospital. Already home to nearly 1,000 undergraduate students, Ciudad Panamericana reflects Dr. Lozano’s strategic vision and commitment to expanding educational opportunities in Latin America.

Dr. Lozano’s influence extends beyond Universidad Panamericana. He has shared the principles of institutional advancement with other universities and higher education associations, including the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES) and the Federation of Private Mexican Higher Education Institutions (FIMPES).
The CASE Latin America Leadership Award celebrates leaders who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to education and institutional advancement. Past recipients have included university presidents and chancellors whose visionary leadership has elevated their institutions and strengthened the global advancement community.
Dr. Lozano’s recognition underscores the growing importance of institutional advancement in Latin America and highlights the profound impact of leadership on education and society.
