CASE Statement on COVID-19
Following yesterday’s guidance from the World Health Organization, CASE is postponing, converting to digital presentation mode, or cancelling all in-person US, European, and Latin American conferences and workshops in the on our schedule from now to April 1, 2020. In normal circumstances, our members are eager to gather together with their peers to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and advance education to transform lives and society, but the current combination of health risks and travel restrictions makes that unadvisable at this time.
CASE staff will be reaching out to all registered participants for our remaining March conferences, spelling out the options for postponed conferences or those which will be converted to “virtual” assemblies. For cancelled conferences, we are encouraging registrants to apply their fees as a credit for a future conference, rather than requesting a refund. We emphasize this for two reasons: as you look forward in your budgeting process you might find it easier to use an existing credit than it would be to gain new budget approval, and as your professional association we count on a stable source of revenue from these professional development opportunities. We have developed an array of alternate offerings—both online and in-person—where your credit can be applied; each of you will receive a recommendation for application of your credit based on the content of the event for which you originally registered.
