CASE Statement on COVID-19
In response to issues arising from the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), CASE has canceled the Asia-Pacific Advancement Conference, previously scheduled 20-23 April 2020 in Singapore. Through consultation with volunteer leadership in the region, and ongoing monitoring of reports and forecasts from the World Health Organization and the health ministries of member countries, CASE determined that continuing forward with APAC would create a health risk for volunteers, members, participants, and staff.
To provide ongoing learning opportunities for the individuals who had planned to attend APAC, CASE is developing a series of masterclasses and online offerings that will enable advancement professionals to learn from experts in the field and further their professional development. More information about these alternative programmes will be available soon. In addition, an APAC online community will be launched to provide professional development, dialogue, and networking opportunities to individuals who had registered to attend the conference.
CASE will be contacting all registered attendees with instructions for how to receive refund or reallocation for your conference fees by 28 February 2020.
CASE sincerely regrets the loss of this opportunity to connect with advancement professionals in one of the most vital and innovative regions in which we operate, but felt that in the end we could not in good conscience invite our friends and colleagues to assume the health risks of attendance. CASE will continue to monitor COVID-19, placing highest value on the health and safety of our members and program participants. We encourage our members who are travelling to attend CASE programs to follow the travel restrictions in place at their origin and destination, and practice preventative measures such as those outlined by the World Health Organization.
On behalf of the more than 90,000 members working worldwide, CASE encourages those members who have been directly affected by COVID-19 to maintain the positive and energetic attitude that has had such a salutary impact on our world. We have surmounted crises before, and with your good will and commitment, we will continue to advance education to transform lives and society.
