CASE recently released key findings from the Voluntary Support of Education survey for the 2019 academic fiscal year. According to the survey responses, CASE estimates that U.S. higher education institutions raised $49.60 billion in 2018-19, a 6.1% increase over the previous year and the largest amount ever reported.

This marks 10 consecutive years of growth in charitable giving to colleges and universities, according to the VSE. These, and other key findings, are explored in AMAtlas’ Voluntary Support of Education research brief.

According to the survey results, giving was distributed unevenly by source, with increased support from organizations and declining support from individuals. Private doctoral/research institutions and public baccalaureate institutions posted the largest gains in charitable giving in fiscal year 2019. Also, seven institutions reported gifts of $100 million or more from eight individual donors, one more than in the previous VSE survey.

AMAtlas will be publishing more research briefs dedicated to further takeaways from the VSE survey results throughout the year. In addition, AMAtlas is offering new, more personalized methods for institutions to analyze and benefit from VSE data.

As previously announced, AMAtlas created the new Graphical Program Summaries Reports, which offer exclusively tailored summaries with visual components. The GPS Reports are a free benefit to all post-secondary U.S. institutions that participated in the VSE.

In addition, CASE members are being given the opportunity to join the newly launched, fee-based AMAtlas Facilitated Cohort Groups and receive additional analysis along with in-person meetings for philanthropy, alumni relations, and communications and marketing practice areas.

For more information on AMAtlas Facilitated Cohort Groups or GPS Reports, contact Jenny Cooke Smith at [email protected].
