The CASE Insights on College and University Foundations is designed to be a one-stop shop for foundation executives and professionals interested in comparing data related to their foundation's structure, staffing and financial operations with their peers. This annual survey also allows CASE staff to explore trends in foundation management.

The survey was streamlined in the fall of 2024 with input and guidance from several members of the CASE College & University Foundation Leadership Committee. This volunteer committee contributed their time and expertise to identify key metrics that are of critical importance to the foundation community.

Foundations participating in the CASE Insights on College and University Foundations will be able to:

  • Compare their foundation's funding and operations with their peers,
  • Use comparison data for foundation staff or board meetings,
  • Choose specific foundations to benchmark against and
  • Learn about the latest trends in foundation management and operations.

 

CASE will share key trends from the survey in an upcoming webinar.

 

FAQs

All colleges and foundations interested in participating in the survey can submit their data. 

Foundations are invited to participate in the survey; this year, data will be collected via SurveyMonkey, with plans to transition to our new survey system in the coming years.

Foundation staff who completed previous surveys can access the FY22 College and University Foundation Survey by logging in. 

 

Registered foundations should have the following documents handy when completing the survey:

  • CASE Insights on Voluntary Support of Education Survey responses
  • NACUBO-TIAA Endowment Study responses
  • Audited financials for fiscal year
  • Form 990
