CASE volunteers judge the annual international Circle of Excellence Awards, as well as awards in each of the CASE regions and districts. Awards judges are typically experienced in the discipline or category they are judging. CASE often hears that judges appreciate the opportunity to see the work of their colleagues and get ideas they can apply at their own institutions.

    FAQ: Judging CASE Awards

For all awards, there is the opportunity to participate on a judging panel or to judge individually for a specific category. For the Circle of Excellence Awards, CASE's international awards program, and some district programs, volunteers are also needed to host a category, which involves selecting a judging panel, conducting the judging and sending the winning entries back to the coordinator at CASE or the district.

Time commitments vary depending on what is being judged and can range from a few hours to several days. Your judging coordinator will let you know what to expect when inviting you to serve as a judge.

CASE does not provide an honorarium for judging any of its awards. For the Circle of Excellence Awards, and in many other instances, hosts and judges will be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses.

Hosting and judging an awards category is a great learning experience. It is also an excellent opportunity to network with others in the field. You get a rare opportunity to see the work of your peers, gather new ideas and share them with your colleagues on campus.
