Meet your Chairs

Gareth Hughes
Since joining The University of Manchester’s communications team, Gareth has led new approaches to student engagement. He has co-created a strategic framework for student communications, introduced a video-first content strategy, and delivered high-impact, multi-channel campaigns across a wide range of priorities.
Gareth also hosts The University Comms Podcast, where he speaks with communications professionals who are doing the job day to day, sharing honest conversations about what worked, what didn't, and what we are all still figuring out.

Michelle McMahon
Michelle McMahon is University of Limerick’s Digital Marketing Officer. Her prior roles include Head of Social & Innovation at FleishmanHillard, founding editor of Her.ie - managing a team that grew an audience from zero to one million unique monthly visitors in just two years - and as a radio presenter on BAUER’s SPIN South West. As part of her role in UL, Michelle manages the Student Social Media Officer programme, bringing authentic student-led content to UL’s channels.
