Student Mental Health Tips with Cambridge’s Dr. Olivia Remes
From the Nominator
Student Mental Health with Cambridge’s Dr. Olivia Remes is a short-form research video series produced by the University of Cambridge social media team to translate evidence-based mental health research into practical advice for students. The series features Olivia Remes, whose work focuses on anxiety, resilience, and wellbeing. The video series spun out of a wider student mental health campaign at Cambridge in which Dr. Remes was involved, designed to raise awareness of wellbeing and encourage students to access support services. Building on that campaign, the social media team developed a short-form video format that could deliver research-backed advice directly to students on the platforms they use most. Originally created primarily for Cambridge students, the videos present accessible, practical tips to help students manage stress, productivity, and wellbeing during the academic year. Each episode is filmed in recognizable Cambridge locations and supported with b-roll that visually reinforces the advice. The tone is friendly, practical, and encouraging, and every video ends with a reminder that support services are available across the university and encourages students to reach out if they need help. The series quickly exceeded expectations and reached audiences far beyond the original student target. Across the first four videos, the series has generated more than 2.6 million views across platforms. Individual videos have achieved between 195,000 and over 1.2 million views each, with exceptionally high engagement. The series demonstrates how universities can translate academic research into relatable, practical content that supports student wellbeing while engaging audiences with evidence-based advice.
