California State University, Los Angeles created this documentary on its Prison Graduation Initiative (PGI) to illuminate the transformative power of higher education within California’s prison system. The primary objectives were to inspire incarcerated men and women to pursue higher education; increase awareness of and support of PGI among institutional leaders, policymakers, and the broader community; strengthen partnerships with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; and position higher education as an evidence-backed way to promote successful reentry into society.
