This 2.5-minute video is part of an ongoing series at the University of Georgia, where we place a microphone in the middle of a busy area on campus and invite students to respond to a prompt on camera. For Mothers' Day, we wanted to prompt students to give a shout out to their moms and tell them how much they appreciate them. Over the course of about two hours, we got close to 90 responses, so the most difficult thing was narrowing down which responses to use. The result was a surprisingly emotional and uplifting video. This video engaged not just students but also their parents. The response was immense, with over 2.2 million impressions/views and thousands of comments across social media channels. A surprising amount of news coverage inspired many other universities to begin doing similar video interviews on their campuses as well.
