Harvard-Westlake Annual Report
From the Nominator
The audience for the annual report are donors to Harvard-Westlake School. The goal for this annual report was to profile students and show how they are valued. Students were invited to take photos in a photo booth that suddenly appeared on campus. They often captured their silly side in these photos and showed themselves interacting with each other in a fun, positive way. In addition to the candid photo-booth photos (reminding donors of the times they might have taken pictures in a photo booth with high school friends), we also later asked students to fill out a short questionnaire about themselves and then picked out the most interesting answers (covering academics, arts, athletics, community service, and student life) to highlight in the report. In addition, we pulled actual student quotes we didn't use elsewhere in the report to create Mad-Lib-style interior cover spreads. The results are joyful, playful, vulnerable, funny, poignant, and powerful.
From the Judges
Incredibly inventive idea that recognized a way to keep people turning the page, even knowing there were more lists to come. Loved the inclusion of current students. Judges think they could repurpose this concept for other development pieces.
