Recognizing that in-person events would only ever reach a minority of its alumni, in 2025, the University of Cambridge revitalized its online program targeting this important group. The aim was to create a diverse, engaging portfolio of digital experiences for alumni, following several years of post-pandemic digital fatigue. The lower costs, compared with in-person events, enabled greater thematic coverage and experimentation. The refreshed portfolio comprises three distinct webinar series: Armchair Travel, Cambridge Conversations, and The Future of Physical Sciences. Each series has a clear focus: The Future of Physical Sciences highlights interdisciplinary research; Cambridge Conversations explores major global questions; and Armchair Travel offers cultural enrichment. Delivered through live online sessions with audience participation and recorded for on-demand viewing, the program prioritizes accessibility across time zones. The series' impact has been significant, increasing participation and strengthening alumni connection to Cambridge’s research.
