Cambridge Is Shaping AI for Everyone
From the Nominator
In April 2025, the University of Cambridge ran a multi-channel campaign in collaboration with Cambridge’s flagship artificial intelligence mission ai@cam. The aim was to demonstrate to key audiences (like policymakers, philanthropists, alumni, academics, the public, and potential partners) that the university is home to a dynamic AI community focused on solving real-world problems to advance AI for public good. Central to this campaign was a suite of content under the theme Shaping AI for Everyone, brought together in a hub as a 'show of strength.' The content included: Overview features examining applications of AI from healthcare to conservation; expert opinion from leaders in their fields; a look at Cambridge AI spinout companies; and tangible case studies of using AI to benefit society. Our content (including features, opinion pieces, news stories, and video) resulted in over 1.3 million views across our social media channels and 24,000 unique page reads. The content hub has been visited 12,000 times. Our public affairs team shared the content with around 140 members of parliament, peers, and government officials, helping to build relationships and create opportunities to engage further. The content was complemented by events at Cambridge Festival public engagement events and laid solid groundwork for future fundraising by Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations.
From the Judges
We noted the strong diversity of perspectives represented throughout these pieces and found it educational for a broad range of audiences. The writing struck an effective balance between academic depth and accessible language, making the content both credible and engaging. The entry also positioned Cambridge as an authoritative and trusted voice on the subject matter.
