Veterans Services Resources Through a Volunteer Network
From the Nominator
The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) Veterans Services Program has made a significant impact by providing essential support to 56,167 graduates. At the heart of the program is the Volunteer Veterans Services Liaison network, a dedicated group of West Point alumni serving as trusted advisors to fellow graduates. Through this network, alumni receive peer-to-peer guidance, helping them navigate the complex landscape of Veterans Administration (VA) benefits, healthcare enrollment, disability claims, and other services. The program's key features include interactive webinars, an online library, and monthly training sessions that keep volunteers informed on VA policies. The program emphasizes education and empowerment, ensuring that alumni can confidently pursue the benefits they are entitled to, while also providing them with tools to help others. The strategic partnership with local Veteran Service Organizations further extends the support network, ensuring that graduates have access to resources within their local communities. WPAOG’s commitment to technology and volunteer engagement has created a holistic system for addressing the unique needs of veterans. This approach integrates digital tools, volunteer efforts, and partnerships, ensuring a personalized and comprehensive support system that aligns with the values of "duty, honor, and country."
