Scholarship Impact: Personal, Powerful, and in Perpetuity
From the Nominator
Every year we host a “Legacy of Leaders Luncheon” where we bring together and celebrate our scholarship donors and recipients. Each year we produce a video of several scholarship recipients talking directly to the donors. We want to capture the students discussing their family situation, their financial need, the gift’s impact—both now and in the future—and their eternal gratitude. Amanda Sherman, our school’s Director of Alumni Engagement, researches the recipients, selects the students, and comes up with the questions to ask them. Kevin Storr, the school’s Director of Communications, shoots the video, conducts the interviews, and edits the video. The only tools used for this video were an iPhone 13 Pro, SOLID clip-on lavalier mic, Quiaya tripod, and iMovie. We air the video at the event and share a digital file with the donors who cannot attend, so we cannot measure clicks or views to show a true measurement of success. While there is no causal evidence that this video—or others—have led directly to alumni giving, we will point out that since 2022, our school has successfully created 19 endowments totaling nearly $1 million in gifts. There is a culture of kindness and generosity with our alumni and a matching culture of affection and gratitude with our recipients. And we believe it is that sentiment that is eloquently delivered by our students and captured in our video.
