This video was produced in house to showcase one of Pomona College's longstanding traditions, Orientation Adventure, to prospective students. Taking your first steps into a residential college can be intimidating. OA is Pomona College's way of smoothing the transition and immediately building community. The program gives first year students and transfers the opportunity to connect with one another in an adventurous, immersive, and pressure-free environment right after settling into their residential college life. This video serves a number of strategic goals, including generating additional interest in applying to Pomona College, helping admitted students prepare for their first days on campus, and reminding alumni of one of the beloved core traditions that still ties them to the college today. The storytelling piece was produced with video captured by the communications office over the past 10 years, as well as collecting footage shot by students participating in the trip. The result is an authentic behind the scenes look of a sprawling, multi-faceted program. The video was released in Nov. 2024 on YouTube and garnered 1,128 views and 49.4 watch hours. It has since been promoted on the college's social media channels to reach thousands of prospective and current students. It was also featured in Pomona College Magazine, which is mailed to 26,000 of our network of alumni across the world. The video will be used by the admissions department to promote the unique social opportunity Pomona College offers, as well as preparing admitted students for their transition into Pomona College.
