Over the past few years, the University of Missouri was leading a campaign to construct a new children’s hospital for mid-Missouri. This invitation came at the end of this campaign to celebrate the grand opening. Everyone who received an invitation was a major gift donor (Mizzou classifies major gifts as anything above $50,000) or had a special tie to the project. The list included board members, campus and healthcare leadership, and families with children treated at the hospital. Our goal for this invitation was to think outside the box and tie it in with design details from the new building. The eastern bluebird has been the official state bird of Missouri since 1927 and was featured prominently throughout the new building. It was this connection that led to the incorporation of a bluebird into the invitation design. The bluebird is a 3D element that looks like it’s coming to life from the invitation. We received incredible feedback on the invitation design and even had guests request extras. This was incredibly meaningful to the families with children being treated at the hospital.
