MSU Denver Alumni Association Podcast: Bird Talk
From the Nominator
The Metropolitan State University (MSU) of Denver Alumni Association launched Bird Talk in April 2023 to strengthen alumni connections, celebrate their achievements, and reinforce MSU Denver’s impact. With a lean production team of four and a minimal budget, we produce monthly episodes featuring alumni journeys. We highlight their challenges, successes, and the lasting value of their education. Hosted by the insightful and engaging Jamie Hurst, an MSU Denver alumna and the Associate Vice President for Strategic Engagement, Bird Talk took flight immediately, drawing over 1,000 listeners per episode. Guests have included an ESPN SportsCenter anchor, a producer for The Simpsons, a brewmaster for Sandlot Brewery, and a software developer helping send astronauts back to the moon. Season two welcomed the CEO of Goodr Sunglasses, a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, and the President of the MSU Denver Alumni Association. We have an ever-growing list of future guests! Beyond storytelling, Bird Talk strategically integrates MSU Denver initiatives through ad spots and organic mentions, strengthening brand identity and institutional pride. Every episode showcases how alumni are committed to their fields and MSU Denver, demonstrating the university’s role in shaping careers and fostering success. As we approach our third season, Bird Talk continues to soar, proving that authentic, well-crafted storytelling is a powerful force for engagement and university advocacy.
