#MoveInMiami is Miami University’s annual day of giving, which engages alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and students. In 2024, we celebrated the class of 2028 by rallying support for hundreds of university initiatives. The campaign surpassed expectations, setting a new benchmark for future efforts. In August 2024, we hosted the 11th #MoveInMiami, aiming for 2,028 gifts in 20 hours and 28 minutes. We exceeded our goal, securing 4,939 gifts and raising $5,954,596—the largest total to date. Interactive engagement through a mailed paper fortune teller helped donors explore giving options and over 200 project pages allowed departments, teams, and clubs to champion their causes. Personal storytelling from donors in a new “Why I Gave” feature was shared on our website and social media. We harnessed the nostalgia of move-in day and fostered a culture of philanthropy, demonstrated donor impact and honored donor choice, and increased alumni participation and elevated student support. More than 4,900 donors (of which 14.21% were first-time donors) raised nearly $6 million, with an 85.5% donor retention rate meaning 662 campus programs benefited from donor support.
