Donor Engagement New Year Card
From the Nominator
Smith College School for Social Work creates a New Year card each year to send to alumni. The card is printed and hand signed for VIP alumni and top donors and a digital version is created for the larger population. Sent annually in early January, the card serves as a sweet and personal way to mark the new year. This year's card was created with a local illustrator and graphic designer. It was inspired by a quote from our 2024 commencement celebration and was designed to take the reader on a journey. As you open the card, each panel reveals a bit more and the illustrations move from darkness to illumination. Translating the printed card to digital offered an opportunity to support the words with music and animation.
From the Judges
A beautiful card that taps into emotions. Unique fold style. The limited foil use adds a subtle element to elevate it. We love that it was inspired by a quote from a commencement celebration and designed to take the reader on a journey through the dark-to-light theme, with the recipient being that light at the end. This card is perfect for social work alumni, really touching on what the profession does. Kudos for explaining this card and how it works so well in their submission.
