Boston University COM/365 2024
From the Nominator
COM/365: Dean’s Report 2024 puts a journalistic spin on the annual report, highlighting the people and events from Boston University’s College of Communication in a narrative style. For the 2024 issue, that included stories about a college television station renovation, student journalists uncovering a hidden history of slavery in Boston, a feature package about the College of Communication’s new emphasis on civic science, and more. This publication is distributed annually, as the college’s primary print point of contact with alumni, and is intended to thank supporters, encourage giving, and to help them keep up with COM and see that it is a successful place where faculty and students are having a positive impact on the world—and that they have reason to be proud of their alma mater. Although this serves as the dean’s annual report, we aim to produce a publication that is journalistic, modern, exciting, sleek, positive, energetic, and actionable. To accomplish that, we report and write narrative-style stories to demonstrate the impact that supporters have on COM, and that COM in turn has on the communication industry—and we find vibrant ways to illustrate these pieces with a mixture of photography and illustration.
