From the Nominator
The BC Alumni App connects alumni to every part of the Boston College experience after graduation. After seeing a dip in digital engagement—especially from younger alumni—Nick Darling (Senior Associate Director, Digital Technology and Operations) and Sam Wallace (Senior Associate Director, Digital Marketing) determined that a new digital channel could be a way to win back alumni who had stopped engaging with email and social marketing. The BC Alumni App launched in mid-2023 and has grown to more than 15,000 users across every demographic of the alumni population. The app experience is unique to each user and is based on layered audience segmentation. With just one click, users can update contact information, submit a class note, register for a chapter event, play weekly trivia, navigate campus during Reunion, and even donate to BC. In its first year and a half, the app has proven to be the touchpoint that had been missing in our digital ecosystem. It has eclipsed the engagement and donation goals we’ve set and continues to grow into one of the most dynamic channels for our constituency.
