Every year, we create a video to celebrate the Gettysburg College community and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. We strive to create a new, fresh concept each year, emphasizing the warmth and magic of our community. This year, we combined that sense of community with our rich history. At Gettysburg College, we know that history is much more than memory; rather, it is a living and breathing entity that continues to thread itself into the here and now. Inspired by the history of the college and the memories created here, we pulled archival winter photos from the college’s special collections in Musselman Library to create a "scrapbook" that transports viewers through the decades to the present moment—a tapestry of stories of all those who have walked our snowy paths and hallowed halls.

This video’s clever method of bringing still photos to life caught our attention. Every organization has photos, so the idea is replicable in new contexts. Small shops without a lot of video footage could apply these soundscape and animation techniques to get more mileage out of existing resources.
