Compelling Perspectives is a speaker series at Lehigh University that focuses on topics of importance to society. The series aims to provide a forum for respectful discourse and a range of views. At a time when echo chambers and sound bites threaten to replace healthy conversations, this forum is one way that Lehigh seeks to foster principled dialogue, build understanding, and bridge divides. The goal for this project was to develop the visual identity for the series—including all associated collateral, including emails, posters, websites, social media, and environmental graphics. Users have been highly engaged with our digital content (web and social media), proving the impact of our work and the university community’s interest in future Compelling Perspectives events.
From the Judges
The designer's vision for this series was to craft a visual identity system that remained adaptable as the series expands. Elements like typography, color, texture, and imagery are skillfully combined to allow for dynamic configurations across different platforms. Classical serif and contemporary sans-serif fonts harmonize, symbolizing diverse perspectives converging. By leveraging Lehigh University's secondary color palette, the series maintains institutional identity while forging new ground. Gritty textures and evocative imagery capture the complexity of the discussions, enhanced by dynamic motion graphics. This intentional interplay of elements creates a visually distinctive experience, resonating both within Lehigh's campus and beyond, setting a new standard for visual communication excellence.
