At the University of Portland, we believe that the school's success depends on the talent and dedication of its staff members—employees whose work is sometimes behind the scenes. After learning his work on our soccer field had won national awards, we decided to profile Kevin White, our athletic fields manager. Our staff writer spent time shadowing Kevin as he went about his work, learning about different kinds of grass and the tremendous amount of work and care that goes into cultivating a field.
