"In celebration of the long-anticipated return to in-person convocations, we assembled a group of college champions to star in a high-energy welcome video inspired by vintage Oscars opening sequences. The video delivered comedy while deploying strategy to inform graduates of the value of staying connected with the SLC global alumni network.
President Glenn Vollebregt opened the ceremonies by positioning the video as a behind-the-scenes recap of his journey to convocation. The video features Liz Gorman, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, as the authority on alumni activity, breaking the news about a return to in-person convocation. “Did you hear?” Liz then demonstrates the incredible power of the SLC alumni network as she quickly connects Glenn to SLC alumni eager to reconnect and help.
Three finale sequences were filmed, customized to each convocation venue, that showed Glenn’s triumphant entrance, exuding the same pride and excitement with which SLC graduates crossed the stage.
“Welcome to the SLC Alumni Family” also included a cameo by the new SLC tri-campus mascot, Storm--the introduction of whom some community members may have missed while in-class learning was suspended. Storm was present at all convocation ceremonies, posing for photos with graduates and their families, and providing yet another link to the video and the reminder of its call to action."
