"Note in the Coat campaign was the answer to a need for the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Campbell University. For almost two decades, Campbell Doctor of Pharmacy students have received white coats at the beginning of their first semester. For the past decade, these coats have been funded by a private company that dropped their support a couple of years ago. Note in the Coat became the answer to filling this need. Through Note in the Coat, alumni had the opportunity to sponsor the cost of the white coats for incoming students and were given the opportunity to write a student a note encouraging them as they began their educational journey. These notes were provided to the students on the day they received their white coats.    

With around 80 students matriculating in the fall of 2022 for the Doctor of Pharmacy program, the goal was to have each coat sponsored and for each of the students to receive a note from an alumnus. In addition to the Campbell Doctor of Pharmacy Class of 2022 donating their class funds to this project, an additional 75 alumni donors gave to the Note in the Coat campaign.   

This was the first gift to Campbell for more than 31 percent of donors who gave to this project, including a 1996 alumnus who made their first gift. Twelve percent of donors had not given in the past ten years, and an additional 19 percent had not given in the past four years. Alumni donors from 10 different states participated in the Note in the Coat campaign."
