"It was our first in-person Lunar New Year (LNY) event since the pandemic. FORWARD, The Campaign for UBC, had just been launched. LNY was an exclusive dinner gala. We needed a high-end, culturally appropriate key art for the celebration, to be used across various applications and in different media, both for the UBC event itself and to celebrate the day with our audiences. for the celebration.
1. A beautiful key art design lush with symbols that honoured the diverse communities who celebrate LNY. UBC’s brand and campaign colours were exquisitely integrated throughout. The illustration design was applied across various applications and media to provide mood and ambiance to the event (e.g., photo booth, GOBO/event ambiance, slide deck and event stage theming, digital and web assets, including social media, motion graphic animation, etc.).
2. A thoughtful creative approval process enriched by feedback from our diverse, multicultural teams.
The resulting illustration and design was well-received by donors, alumni, and staff, and picked up across the university, including by the central brand team who used the illustration for their LNY communications, internal and external, sharing it far and wide."

It's always great to see design work that catches your eye, and this nomination seems to have done just that. With its rich colors and beautiful key art design, the piece was able to make a big impact across multiple channels. The judges were impressed with the level of thought that went into the design and how it provided a prime opportunity to deliver an outstanding in-person experience.
