From the Nominator
The University of Utah Magazine is the redesigned and relaunched publication from the state’s flagship institution. Formerly known as Continuum, the new magazine has upgraded in nearly every way. It’s printed three times a year, and shares the stories of the people who make up the University of Utah community.
Prior to the redesign and relaunch, the magazine was not reaching its full potential. We knew we could use it to build and maintain relationships with our community of 185,000 donors, alumni, and friends of the university. The magazine could be a tool to provide this community with talking points about the U so they can better recommend it to potential students, as well as feel more connected to it when a donation ask is made.
Our goal was simple: take full advantage of the power of print, and revitalize the magazine. We wanted to increase circulation, improve the reader’s experience, and grow our online reach.
From the Judges
Forward-thinking design; this layout is current and modern. Pushing the traditional format of college publications, the typography in University of Utah’s magazine is unique, and the atypical page size makes it stand out.
