Terps Together: The University of Maryland Alumni Association Cookbook, is the first-ever cookbook of its kind at the university, created by and for alumni.

A discussion during the pandemic about the additional time Alumni Association staff was baking at home sparked the idea to collect recipes and create a cookbook. This allowed the university and the Alumni Association an opportunity to be in people’s lives in a safe and creative way when in-person programming was impossible. The recipes not only represent the state of Maryland but also our alumni —their cultures, families, and communities where they now live. Through strategic outreach with alumni networks across the country, celebrity chefs, individual alumni, and others, we curated recipes submitted by Terps around the world.

    From the Judges

Creative idea for COVID engagement with alumni with this fun cooking-focused “give-to-get” during a digital age in which people order online regularly. Layout is clean, warm, and homey in tone; well-branded. One illustrator gives coherence. A collector’s item that is sure to be a beloved archival piece for the institution for years to come.
