From the Nominator
Comet NEOWISE makes its way across the sky under the “Fallen Star,” the university's Stuart Collection of site-specific sculptures. Captured by staff photographer Erik Jepsen, this single exposure of the comet was posted across UC San Diego’s social media for students to view during the pandemic, as NEOWISE will not be seen again for 6,800 years.
From the Judges
Great long-exposure image. Being able to capture the falling star and keep the campus view exposure to a minimum is not easy. Good job capturing both subjects in a visual pleasing composition.
