    From the Nominator

At ITAM, we believe education, in general, improves the lives of human beings through the enrichment of their best values, their growth as individuals, the development of their awareness, and the increase of their civic capabilities. The institution is constantly evolving, and its board of directors makes sure to work on strategic plans that allow having an inclusive community. Reducing the gender gap within the academic and professional fields is a core objective for ITAM. Because the number of women in Mexico who direct their career towards the STEM industry is very low, the Women’s Initiative was created in 2019 as a way to encourage women to study and develop a professional path in all types of STEM careers. The initiative comprises three components geared toward women, all taking place on ITAM’s campus: activities for high school students, alumni seminars, and networking sessions.

    From the Judges

ITAM provided a very positive opportunity for girls and women to become more engaged in fields where women are underrepresented. Their program not only benefited high schools students, but also helped create a closer bond between their alumnae and university.
