The Kim and Stu Lang Community Healthcare Partnership Program Announcement
From the Nominator
On Nov. 4, 2019, the University of Guelph announced an $11-million gift to create the Kim and Stu Lang Community Healthcare Partnership Program at the Ontario Veterinary College. The gift marked the largest single donation in the history of the OVC. The event at which we announced the gift and program brought more than a hundred faculty, staff, senior leadership, students, friends, alumni, community partners, and donors to celebrate this historic milestone. The gift and program were revealed by the video to the guests. The feature video has remained on YouTube and the OVC website, with additional social companion pieces to further digital engagement of this celebrated milestone for the U of G and the greater community.
From the Judges
The Kim and Stu Lang Community Healthcare Partnership Program Announcement was a heart-warming story about how the human-animal bond can be life changing in ways you could have never predicted. The impact story was shown from the student/professor's view, the donor's view, and the community recipient's view. A special moment in the video was hearing how the donor's love of animals of all kinds led to a philanthropic donation intended to help some of the most vulnerable within the community while at the same time allowing veterinary students become better doctors. The use of natural sounds to boost the overall viewer experience, and the use of b-roll behind the individual stories led to more robust story-telling.
