From the Nominator

The University of Maryland M Book was revived in 2018 as a guide to the student experience at Maryland for new, incoming students. From 1916 to 2001, the M Book served as the university’s student handbook used to share resources and policies with students. In order to pay homage to the book’s past, we highlighted past M Books on the inside covers and employed a fun, throwback style design. We enlisted student ambassadors, staff members, and others to help drive the content of the new M Book which ultimately included a UMD bucket list, history, landmarks, traditions, events, songs, famous Terps, and more.

From the Judges

The judges could not put this book down! This book is beautifully designed. The print quality is phenomenal. The paper stock is a nice, heavy weight, so that you can read and engage with the book without worry about ripping it. The perfect bind is well done for having more than 140 pages. The red foil on the cover and the bind is an elegant touch. The fold-out pages are interactive, engaging, and a wonderful way to showcase landmarks at the university. There is exceptional typography throughout the entire book. The colors are bold and cheerful. The photography is captivating, upbeat, and showcases the life of the university. The illustrations are playful but informational. The content is well organized and presented in a way that is very appealing to new and incoming students.
