From the Nominator
In late 2017, the University of Georgia’s football team earned a place in the SEC Championship Game—with the opportunity to go to the College Football Playoffs for the first time. The athletic success gave the university national exposure, and the UGA Division of Marketing & Communications saw a unique opportunity to showcase the university’s academic excellence to a new audience by creating a fresh, powerful PSA to air during the post-season. For the 2018 football season, we updated and improved the limited run post-season PSA, replacing about half of the footage, and changing the pace of the edit.
From the Judges
The soundtrack, compelling voiceover and exceptional production quality made this spot a standout. The shift of pacing midway through the video paired with a popular music soundtrack and repetition of first-person pronouns made the video feel powerful and invigorating. We appreciated that the video was produced in house, with budget only spent on music rights, and that the voiceover was read by a former student.
