Bio
Michelle Hauck Shaw is a data scientist within MIT’s Office of Resource Development (RD), with twenty years’ experience leading analysis and modeling projects. Her core competencies include statistical sampling, quantitative analysis, program evaluation, independent verification and validation (IV&V), and data management.
For the past 8 years, she has designed and conducted studies to further MIT’s understanding of the Major Gift prospect pool, most recently delivering novel applied analysis to understand the impacts of fundraiser outreach on prospect movement and engagement, and to define and prioritize donor segments for cultivation. Prior to her work in higher ed, Michelle spent several years with a boutique advisory firm, serving as a technical lead for a variety of econometric engagements involving program evaluation, statistical sampling and litigation support for federal government clients. Prior to consulting, Michelle developed and maintained electric load demand forecasting models for power dispatchers, energy traders and financial analysts in the US and Europe.
Michelle lives in Wellesley, MA with her twin 6th graders and Italian greyhound. Michelle is passionate about distance running, pancakes, and mental health.
