Bio

Ellen Whitlock Baker is passionate about working with leaders and organizations to support growth and realize potential. She brings a deep understanding of the higher education and nonprofit landscape and coaches clients to unlock their own power to make change, take on new challenges, and grow.

Ellen is a certified Executive Coach through the Hudson Institute and an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation. She specializes in working with clients going through transitions, starting new positions, and who are feeling stuck and need help determining how to proceed. Her clients appreciate her kindness, empathy, authenticity and the accountability she provides to keep momentum going.

Ellen is a seasoned alumni engagement and higher education leader, having held leadership positions at the University of Washington and at Seattle University, where most recently she served as the Assistant Vice President, Alumni Engagement, overseeing alumni engagement and annual giving. Over her 20 years of work in the higher education and nonprofit sectors, Ellen has led teams in Marketing & Communications, Strategy and Analysis, Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement.

A member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE)’s Alumni Commission, Ellen supports CASE’s work in advancing alumni engagement practices across the world. Passionate about developing community-centric engagement practices, Ellen champions meeting alumni and donors where they are and creating reciprocal and authentic engagement tactics that alumni find value in.

Ellen is a certified Everything DiSC practitioner, creating and executing workshops all over the country to help people work better together.

Born and raised in Honolulu, HI, Ellen now lives near Seattle, WA with her family and holds a Master of Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington and a B.A. in Theatre from Whitman College. Learn more at www.ewbcoaching.com.
