Using Minimum Resource to Maximum Effect: Creating a Volunteer Engagement Strategy

How do we create mutually beneficial and meaningful experiences for our alumni which help to deliver institutional priorities?

In this session, we’ll go through the what? and how? of aligning your programme to the institution’s needs and the team’s capacity. Using case studies of some of the volunteering initiatives at both Regent’s University London and the University of Glasgow, this honest session will help set the scene for the day by sharing learnings that will help teams to enhance volunteer opportunities, and the relationships with alumni involved, in support of a range of priority areas.

This session will explore why volunteering is such an integral part of our society, we will review shifts in patterns, and trends post covid, alongside exploring different motivations for volunteering. Emma will share the Volunteering Matters story, showcasing some of the impressive impacts of Volunteering Matters volunteers. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences of volunteering, the ups, and the downs. The session will conclude with an overview of the Vision for Volunteering, an ambitious 10-year strategy for the future of volunteering in England. The session will be a blend of watching short films, delegate participation and listening to a presentation, alongside PowerPoint slides.
