Donor Motivations: Why Latinx Alumni Support Their Alma Mater
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM PT
Speaker(s): Monica Alejandre, Associate Vice President, Advancement Operations, California State University, San Bernardino
Elective Session
Session Description: The primary source of individual charitable support for higher education institutions is alumni. As more Latinx students graduate with their bachelor’s degrees, it’s critical for universities, in particular HSIs, to understand donor motivations among their Latinx alumni populations. This session will disseminate research conducted across four HSIs on motivations that inspire Latinx alumni to philanthropically support their alma mater and university priorities of interest. Information will be shared on shifts on priorities based on level of giving. Recommendations will be provided on steps higher education leaders should implement to ensure Latinx alumni remain engaged and supportive of their alma mater.
